Our Mission
The Friends of the Fern Creek Library is a non-profit, volunteer group. We are dedicated to improving access to books and educational programs at the Fern Creek Library branch of the Louisville Free Public Library in Louisville, Kentucky.
A state-of-the-art $18.5 million,18,000 square-foot Fern Creek Library is now under construction and is expected to open in the fall of 2026. The facility will feature an abundance of natural light, comfortable and quiet spaces for reading and studying, meeting rooms, and dedicated areas for children and teens.

The Friends of the Fern Creek Library group meets each month on the third Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Fern Creek Community Center. When our new branch opens in 2026, we will meet there. Please check under the Upcoming Events tabs for our next meeting.

Fern Creek Community Engagement
The Friends of the Fern Creek Library is a member of the Fern Creek Community Association and Chamber of Commerce. Our members are involved in a number of other groups in the Fern Creek community including the Fern Creek Woman's Club and the Fern Creek High School Alumni Association.
Educational Programs
Friends of the Fern Creek Library has supported a variety of educational programs at the Fern Creek Library for children, teens, and adults to support continuous learning and growth.Once the new Fern Creek Library opens, we'll begin a new era of educational programming.
Volunteer Opportunities
Once the new Fern Creek Library opens in the fall of 2026, we'll have a number of volunteer opportunites for you to participate in.

Book Sales
Friends of the Fern Creek Library has held many book sales through the years to raise money to support the Fern Creek Library. We'll let you know when we schedule our next book sale.
Once the new Fern Creek Library opens in the fall of 2026, we will have a cart of curated used books for sale to help fund our ongoing support of the library.
